Design and presence

Zeekr 7X - classic SUV design

The first thing that stands out about the 7X is its road presence. At just under five metres in length, it has the proportions of a large SUV, with clean surfaces and a coupe-like roofline that give it a more athletic look than some of its bulkier rivals. The front fascia carries Zeekr’s signature slim LED daytime running lights paired with a wide, confident grille design. The flush door handles and strong shoulder lines add to the sense of refinement.

In person, the 7X feels substantial. The proportions are closer to a full-size luxury SUV than a compact crossover, and the frameless powered doors give a small taste of luxury every time you get in. It’s the kind of design that draws glances without shouting for attention.

Inside the cabin

Zeekr 7X - luxury interior

Step inside, and the cabin makes an immediate impression. Zeekr has gone for a minimal but premium layout, with soft-touch materials covering most surfaces. The horizontal design theme gives the dashboard a clean, airy look, anchored by a massive 15.4-inch central touchscreen.

Space is generous both in the front and rear. The flat floor helps rear passengers stretch out comfortably, while the panoramic glass roof floods the cabin with light. During our time in the back seat, we noticed the recline angle is well-judged, and the seats themselves offer long-distance comfort. Families will also appreciate the large boot capacity, which can easily take luggage for a weekend getaway.

One detail we appreciated during the test drive was the amount of cabin insulation. Even at highway speeds, wind and tyre noise were subdued, making conversations inside feel natural without needing to raise our voices.

Technology and connectivity

Tech is one of the 7X’s big selling points. The infotainment runs on Zeekr’s in-house software, built on Geely’s SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform. It feels snappy and intuitive, with smartphone-like swipe gestures and responsive voice controls.

We synced a phone via wireless CarPlay, and the transition was seamless. The system also supports over-the-air updates, which means features and improvements can be added down the line. The driver’s 10.25-inch digital cluster is crisp and customisable, while the head-up display projects essential info right where you need it.

Another highlight is the audio. The 7X comes with a premium surround system that delivers clear, rich sound. On the move, it felt like a rolling living room—music, podcasts, and even navigation prompts came through with great clarity.

Safety and assistance features

Zeekr 7X safety airbag

Zeekr has equipped the 7X with a full suite of advanced driver assistance systems. Adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, blind spot monitoring, and automated parking are all included. We tested the adaptive cruise on the highway, and it worked smoothly, maintaining distance without the jerky accelerations some systems suffer from.

There’s also a 360-degree camera system that proved handy in tight parking spots. The resolution is sharp, and the bird’s-eye view makes it easier to judge clearances.

Knowing that Zeekr is backed by Geely, safety engineering has been a priority, and the 7X reflects that in both hardware and software.

Driving experience

What stood out most during our time behind the wheel was how balanced the 7X felt. It’s not trying to be a sports car, but it delivers a satisfying blend of comfort and agility. On city streets, the smooth throttle response and light steering made it easy to drive. Out on the highway, the stability was excellent, giving a sense of confidence even at higher speeds.

We tried pushing it a little on winding roads, and while the 7X isn’t tuned for sharp corner carving, it held its line well and felt secure. The regenerative braking system was easy to modulate, and we liked how it could be adjusted depending on driving style – lighter regen for coasting or stronger regen for near one-pedal driving.

The cabin experience during the drive was equally impressive. Noise insulation, suspension comfort, and that panoramic view combined to make even long stretches enjoyable. It’s the kind of SUV where passengers can relax while the driver still gets a taste of performance.

Is the Zeekr 7X for you?

Zeekr 7X trunk space

The Zeekr 7X doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it refines nearly every part of the EV SUV experience. It’s luxurious without being over the top, powerful without being intimidating, and spacious without feeling bulky. Whether you’re drawn to the long-range practicality of the RWD models or the performance thrills of the AWD, the 7X offers a compelling package that feels well thought out.

If you’re in the market for an EV SUV that combines tech, comfort, and real-world driving balance, the Zeekr 7X deserves a spot high on your list.
